In a cultural landscape filled with endless pundits and talking heads, Fran Lebowitz stands out as one of our most insightful social commentators. Her essays teem with her acerbic takes on everything from tourists and baggage claim to after-shave lotion and children who speak French. Hired by Andy Warhol as a columnist for his Interview magazine, she went on to write for essay collections, play a recurring role as a judge on TV’s Law & Order, star in director Martin Scorsese’s documentary Public Speaking and pen the children’s book Mr. Chas and Lisa Sue Meet the Pandas.
In 2021, Lebowitz won the Forte dei Marmi Festival della Satira Lifetime Achievement Award and was a 2021 Foreign Press Honorary Awardee. Named to Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame in 2008, she is a style icon and continues to live in – where else? – New York City.
